As we promised in 2011 at the 1st Olympiad that we hope to maintain its continuation in the coming years, this year again we’ve arranged our 2nd Bangla Olympiad. Just to remind you, Olympiad is a regular celebration of cultural exchanges and performances through contests in order to keep the culture and morals alive. Like the previous year, also this year we dedicate the program to the International Mother Language Day, and the solemn month of February.
Bangla is one of the ancient and rich languages of the world. The origin of Bangla language is deep-rooted. It’s for centuries there has been brilliant literature made in this language, so it has some permanent value to the literate society. And very naturally the poems, songs, and other forms of art and cultural activities in this language have tremendous effect on the people who inherit this language.
Very recently all over the world, it is observed that people/kids are not much sensitive about using their mother language. So our duty is to create an atmosphere where students get a friendly environment to be more attached to Bangla language and improve their knowledge in it. There are many poems, songs, essays, other articles written in Bangla which are either getting extinct or not much known to all. But when events like this take place they are rediscovered, and get known to the mass. That is the moment when kids and adults both come to know and get to love the richness and value of the language.
This is one of the significances of the Bangla Olympiad that is taking place today. For last few days students took part in the competition in different categories including recitation, singing, essay writing etc.
There is the other side of the coin too. We know the very quote: all study no fun makes jack a dull boy. We want our students to be highly enlightened, not only academically, also creatively, in order to shape them up for today’s multi-colored world.
I hope and believe you all will enjoy the rendition of the best performances in the competition. Our students will come up on the stage with their talented presentations one after another.
I am so thankful to you all for your time and precious presence. Enjoy the show and be supportive as you always are.
